Rivers APC sends SOS to Fashola over Port Harcourt/Enugu road

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has sent an SOS to the Minister of Works, Power and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, passionately appealing to him to urgently turn his attention to the Port Harcourt-Enugu Express Road, which it said has become a death trap and a disgrace to Nigeria.

The SOS was contained in a congratulatory message by Rivers APC signed by the Chairman, Dr. Davies Ibiamu Ikanya.

35-yr-old man jailed 7 years for rape

A court sitting in Benin, the capital of Edo State, has sentenced a 35-year-old man, Stanley Edomwonyi, to seven yearsimprisonment with hard labour, after he was found guilty of rapinga nine-year-old girl, The nation reports.

LASU Management says it has the right to increase fees

The Lagos State University (LASU) management are standing by their decision to increase acceptance fees from N10, 000 to N20, 000.

The University's students union have protested against this increase and demanded for a ‎reversal of the fees with immediate effect to prevent crisis.

The LASU authorities, in response, have maintained that they have the right to review and increase fees, aside tuition fees which the State government was in charge of.

Lagos is going to experience influx of players from at least 60 countries around the world during this year’s Governor’s Cup Lagos Tennis Championship.

The International Tennis Federation, ITF, approved competition which enters its 15th edition this year, will be held from 5-19 December at the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, Onikan.

A check on the website of the ITF Monday shows that the Governor’s Cup is going to have a record entries with the players registered cutting across all the continents of the world.

Youths threaten to kill ‘Prophet’ for failing to ‘resurrect’ Audu

The remains of former Kogi governor, Prince Abubakar Audu was this afternoon laid to rest at Ogbonicha, Ofu Local Government Area. The burial took place at his residence.

The burial rites were conducted by a team of Imams from across Igalaland.

Controversy had trailed the burial of the former governor when rumour filtered into town that he had resurrected. A prophet had earlier promised to revive Audu to life.

Indian doctor arrested for trying to burn patient’s body

Police in India have arrested a doctor accused of trying to set a patient’s body on fire after he died during treatment for back pain and fever, police said Monday.

Salman Shiekh’s 45-year-old patient became unconscious and died shortly after being given painkillers at a private clinic in the southern city of Hyderabad on Saturday, said senior Hyderabad police officer T.Sudhakar.

US military helicopter crash kills two in S’Korea

A U.S. military helicopter crashed in the east region of South Korea Monday, killing two pilots aboard, Yonhap news agency reported citing the police.

The AH-64 Apache helicopter crashed at around 6:20 p.m. local time (0920 GMT) on the road in Wonju, Gangwon province.

Seven dead in helicopter crash in Indian Kashmir

All seven people on board — six pilgrims and the pilot — were killed Monday when a helicopter crashed in Indian Kashmir after leaving a popular Hindu shrine in the mountainous region, police said.

The helicopter crashed after taking off from the town of Katra, near the Vaishnodevi shrine in the Jammu part of the northern region which attracts millions of pilrims every year.
