Dedicated student: The young student's image has been shared around the world as she settles down to her books
A little girl doing what appears to be her homework in the street has touched people's hearts.
In a photograph reportedly taken in the Philippines, the image of the young girl sitting atop a canister in a busy street with her exercise books open shows poverty and hope in one image.
More than 12,000 people have liked the picture, which was shared on Facebook by a man called James Co and then by a local media outlet.
A local news report appears to say that little girls Jenalyn and Cielo Gonzales are doing their work on the street.
Comments from social networkers include Eyra San, who said: "I appreciated this child's determination to learn. I hope someone could help her to pursue her studies, an organization, or foundation. God bless her."

Karl John Cabsag added: "This shows a child eager to learn despite poverty. There's someone eager to get something from others."
But commenter Jojo Vicente was angry at the system that lets this happen, saying: "How useless is the Department of Education? What point have they in this country? What services do they offer?"
The image has echoes of the little homeless boy whose picture went viral after he was seen doing schoolwork in the light of a McDonald's in the Philippines.
Since Daniel Cabrera's image was shared around the world, the nine-year-old has been offered a scholarship grant.
