Army recovers 1,000 cattle from rustlers in Niger state

No fewer than one thousand (1000) cattle were recovered from cattle rustlers in Zungeru, by men of the Operation Sharan Daji of the 31 FAB Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army, in Niger state.
Peoples Daily gathered that the group of rustlers was arrested around Zungeru in Wushishi local government area of the state when they were intercepted on Monday by the army where they recovered the cattle from them.


Investigation revealed that therustlers were entering the state from Zamfara, Kebbi, Sokoto and Birinin Gwari in Kaduna state, where they rustled the cattle, but ran into the men of the Operation Sharan Daji.
The team leader of the operation, Capt. Mohammed Danwaki Lawal in an interview stated that the rustlers numbering nine, in an interrogation confessed to have rustled the animals from the affected locations.
Capt Danwaki noted that they were challenged by lack of communication gadgets which is hampering their operations aimed at riding the forests of bandits.
“It is difficult to call for reinforcement because some of the crime prone areas were without mobile network,” he noted” he said.
He further said that the operation were in collaboration with other security agencies, especially the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and vigilantes.
The Special Adviser on Security to Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello, Col. Kabir Makundi (rtd), who had taken delivery of the recovered cattle appreciated the security agencies, especially men of the 31 FAB Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Minna for rising to security challenges posed by bandits that inhabit the forests in the state.
He said the complaint of lack of communication equipments and other constraints hindering the smooth operation of the team would be tackled with the utmost urgency it deserved.
