AKPABIO Bribe Election Petition Tribunal With N650million? Yepa!!!

Following a weighty petition to President Muhammadu Buhari by the an International Affiliate Transparency In Justice Initiative (TIJI). Security operatives have put the Hon Justice Adedayo Oyebanji led Elections petition Tribunal (panel1) sitting at the Customary Court Kubwa under heavy scrutiny and surveillance while a high powered investigation is ongoing to trace the sum of N650M naira (six hundred and fifty million naira allegedly paid to the tribunal panel by Senate minority leader and former governor of Akwa Ibom State Senator Godswill Akpabio.

Five policemen arrested over alleged murder

The Police in Sokoto State have confirmed the arrest of five mobile policemen attached to the 7 PMF Command in Sokoto over the alleged murder of a man, Yahaya Shehu. Shehu was allegedly murdered by the suspects at Teke community in the Sabon-Birni Local Government Area of the state.
NAN reports that the suspects were alleged to have tortured Shehu to death, a month ago, when they were on patrol along the Isa-Sabon-Birni road. It was gathered that the remains of the deceased were found in a nearby bush the following morning.

Also Senator Saraki said that Tuesday’s screening of the Ministerial nominees would be live streamed.
Saraki who led a six man delegation to the Ikenne home of late Premier of Western Region, Chief Obafemi Awolowo over the death of the matriach of the family, HID Awolowo, described her death as a great loss.

EFCC arrests LG chairman over alleged fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Sunday said the Chairman of Tarauni Local Government Area in Kano State, Mr Muktar Yarima, was in its custody.
Spokesman for the commission, Mr Wilson Uwujaren, told the News Agency of Nigeria that Yarima was arrested on Saturday in Kano over allegations of fraud.
Uwujaren said the chairman was already assisting the commission in the investigation of the case.

Don’t abuse rights of civilians, Navy warns personnel

The Nigerian Navy has warned its personnel against abusing the rights of civilians in order to maintain the existing civil-military relationship.
Flag Officer Commanding, Eastern Naval Command, Rear Adm. Atiku Abdulkadir, gave the warning on Saturday in Calabar while addressing ratings and officers.
Abdulkadir said the navy would not spare any of its personnel caught abusing the rights of the civilians.

Corps member raped and murdered two weeks to her wedding in Ibadan.

Omolola Abogunrin, was allegedly raped and murdered by unknown men 13 days to her wedding (October 17th) and on her 29th birthday. The Corps member was reportedly murdered in the premises of an agriculture research institute located at Apata area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital last Sunday.

NDLEA arrest a man trying to smuggle $34k out of Nigeria at Lagos Airport

       
Ozoh Ikenna was arrested yesterday October 9th at the International Wing of the Murtala Muhammed Air­port, Ikeja, Lagos, by men of the National Drug Law En­forcement Agency (NDLEA) as he tried to smuggle  23 wraps containing 34 thousand dollars out of the country. Ozoh was on his way to Brazil in an Etihad Airways flight, that would first stop at Abu Dhabi, when he was arrested after customs spotted the money, packed in wraps similar to narcotics and con­cealed in his boxer shorts, during screening of passengers.

2 traders land in prison for removing another trader’s teeth

Two housewives who are traders at Daddy Alaja market, Oke Arin, Lagos Island, western Nigeria, have been arraigned before a Lagos Magistrates’ Court for allegedly removing the three teeth of a another trader in the market by hitting her with a stone during a fight.
The fight ensued when the victim, Oluwaseyi Ololuwa, challenged the two women for allegedly urinating inside the market.

The National and State Houses of Assembly tribunal sitting in Isabo, Abeokuta Friday ordered fresh election to be conducted in Ijebu-Ode, Ijebu East, Ipokia and Ijebu North local government areas of Ogun state.
In Ijebu Ode, Tola Banjo, a former deputy speaker had challenged the election of Wale Alausa of the PDP, alleging manipulation of the polls in some wards in the town. But in giving its verdict today, the Tribunal ordered rerun in 14 polling units in Wards 6 and 7 in the town, to determine the real winner.

FG partners with international firm to improve electricity

The Federal Government has entered into partnership with an international power equipment manufacturer, TE Connectivity, in a bid to achieve power sufficiency.
It announced the partnership during a press briefing in Abuja on Thursday, and explained that the joint venture with the $13.3bn firm would provide critical expertise and workforce training essential for the Nigeria’s power sector.

The Kerala college student who lodged a complaint at the women's commission's adalat in Pala, Kottayan on Monday, October 5 said he texted her a 'triple Talaq' over WhatsApp.

Tribunal sacks Yobe Rep, Garba for lack of school qualification

The Yobe Legislative Elections Petitions Tribunal sitting in Abuja has nullified the election of a member representing Nangere/Potiskum Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Sabo Garba, for lack of educational qualification.
Mr. Garba was elected on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The three-member tribunal, presided by Frances Ikponmwen, gave the nullification order while delivering judgment in a petition filed by Ali Yakubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

An Ogudu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State, on Wednesday granted bail to Idowu Mutairu, 35, after he pleaded not guilty to abandoning his pregnant wife in hospital.
The accused, a contractor living at 2, Odugbemi St., Oworonshoki in Lagos, is standing trial on a three-count charge of failure to supply necessities, desertion of a pregnant woman and child.
The Magistrate, Mrs Sule Amzat granted the accused bail in the sum of N20,000 with two reliable sureties who must be employed and have verifiable addresses.

5 countries is interested in Nigeria’s mining sector

Alhaji Sani Shehu, the President, Miners Association of Nigeria, on Wednesday said five countries had declared interest to invest in Nigeria’s mining sector.
Shehu told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja that the countries were Thailand, South Africa, Dubai, Canada and Australia.
He said they had declared interest to come to Nigeria with their equipment and start mining very soon.

Amaechi spent N53bn from N55bn Reserve Fund – Panel

The Rivers State Judicial Commission of Inquiry on Wednesday submitted its report to the State Governor, Nyesom Wike, with an appeal to him to recover stolen funds belonging to the people, including the sum of N53 billion taken from the State Reserve Fund.
The commission was set up by Wike to investigate the sale of valued assets belonging to the state by the Rotimi Amaechi administration.
