Firm trains 12 indigenes on shipbuilding in Romania

AS part of measures to encourage human capacity development in the maritime sector, C&I leasing plc recently sponsored 12 Nigerians for a six weeks training in shipbuilding at Damen shipyard, Romania.
Speaking at a pre-departure ceremony, the Technical Assistant to the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Jeff Tuatongha said the move was part of measures to encourage national capacity development, particularly in the marine sector.

According to him, the training is part of the company’s contribution to ensure that the requisite skills necessary for achieving the Nigerian content goal of wholly built Nigerian vessels are domiciled in the country.
He said, “The trainees departed Nigeria recently for the programme and they have already made significant progress and the company encouraged them to be on their best behaviour towards ensure the excellent performance in the course and applicable assessments throughout the training”.
Besides he also commended the management of C&I Leasing for the initiative and significant contribution to the human capital development mandate of the NCDMB under the Nigerian Content Act (NOGICD Act 2010).
Also speaking at the event, the General Management-Petrotech Marine, Wisdom Nwagwu explained that the initiative is in fulfilment of a commitment to develop local capacity at the bidding stage of a contract for the provision of four security patrol boats for NLNG.
